April and May Ministry Update

Image
Hey there! I hope you’re doing well! Things have been really busy around here as we wrapped up the school year and got prepared for the summer. My schedule is finally slowing down now so I wanted to give you a combined April and May update. This picture is from one of our last core meetings this year. I love these guys and I’m excited that they are becoming such good friends and growing so much. Also, here’s a fun fact: it down-poured and flooded this room right after we took this picture so we had to scram out of there. Three of my roommates: Paul (in blue), Adam (in maroon), and Casey (in gray) decided to dog-pile on Max, while I took a picture. I’m so thankful I got to live with these guys! They are such a fun group and have been good friends to me this year. This was taken just a week before Adam got married and moved out to live with his new wife, so he no longer lives with us, but the rest of us will be staying in the same apartment for this next year.   Hey there! I hope you’re doing well! Here’s your monthly highlight-reel from my ministry - let me know what you think!    Hanging In The Park Since we still can’t meet indoors, we’ve been enjoying the warmer weather outside a lot lately as a ministry. I think it’s important that we do whatever we have to do to be together even if it is outside and socially distanced for now - makes me think of Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Here’s some pictures from our hangouts this month! Our Collin Staff Team! I’ve really loved working with these people this year as we try our best to serve the Collin College campuses. They have challenged me in so many ways and I’m really grateful for the guidance they have given me as I try to figure out what it looks like to be campus missionary and pa

February

Hello! I hope you had a good February! Thanks for reading my blog for this last month. February was kind of a crazy month for all of us I think, you know with the week of rolling blackouts during the snowstorm and everything. For me, it seemed to fly by really quickly - I can't believe it's already March. Here are some of the special things that went on this month: 1. Core Core has been going really well this semester. Our little small group has been growing and I'm really excited for the rest of the semester with these guys. I'm already really impressed with how faithful they've been to meeting up with one another and how willing they are to engage in really meaningful conversations. I would appreciate you praying for the Spirit to be with us as we meet together and for all of us to live more like the Jesus we are learning about during core. Here's a picture from this semester: 2. Tuesday hang (weekly outreach event) Every week on Tuesday we've be

Hey everyone! Thank you for your support and for reading my blog this month. It's been such a blessing to see God working in the lives of students (and my own) so I'm incredibly thankful for your generosity and your sharing of the same Kingdom vision that I have!       At the beginning of the month we had a staff development retreat! Most students were home for the holidays so we had some extra time to get together as a staff and get to know each other more and prepare for the semester. I really enjoyed this time. The Focus staff really feels like another family for me, so it was awesome to get to spend extended time with them, which has been so hard to come by this year because of the pandemic. We spent a good chunk of our time together discussing this book called Money and Power by Jacques Ellul. If you want to read something that will shake up the way you think about using money, go read this and get back to me about it!     This is a picture one of our Collin Focus staff

December

Hey everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's! I just wanted to update you on my life and ministry this last month, so here's my blog for December. This month was a blast! Thank you so much for reading this months blog and for supporting me.  https://www.facebook.com/1679994160/videos/10215711170367165/ ^ you can use this link to watch the live-stream on FB. If it doesn't work just reach out to me.     This month we had another worship night! The last one went so well that we had to do it again before the semester was over. These worship nights have really helped our community to stay connected since we can't meet as regularly as we would like to. They also give us a chance to worship God as a group, which is really important to us. I'm looking forward to many more of these next semester as we, as a ministry, try to navigate reaching out to and developing students during a pandemic.      This month I got to go to Six Flags! I had never been bef

Hey Everyone! Thank you for reading my ministry blog this month and supporting me financially and with prayer to be able to do ministry. It's been such a blessing to see God working in the lives of students (and my own) so I'm incredibly thankful for your generosity and your sharing of the same Kingdom vision that I have!       Picture time!      These pictures are all from doing outreach on campus this month. We were having a hard time connecting and engaging with students so I started setting up games and inviting students to play at a consistent time each week. This has been really neat so far! Already in the last month I've been able to meet many people that I wouldn't otherwise have a chance to because they don't have any other reason to hang out on campus. This month alone more than a few students have joined a core and are being poured into spiritually on a regular basis because the Spirit was working through these outreach events. This is so exciting to m

October

Hey Friends! Thank you for reading my ministry blog this month!   October went by really fast and I think this was the first month that I really got into a routine with meetings, classes, studying, and everything else. At this point, you've heard about most of the stuff I do in a regular week at least once, so I figured I'd focus this blog more on what was special to this last month. This first picture is from the Northeast church in Wylie on Sunday morning. This specific community within the Northeast church body is connected to the Focus ministry at Collin College. All of the Focus pastors at Collin attend this church, so I began joining the Sunday morning zoom calls back in May. But since then we have started meeting in person again (outside and with safety measures of course). I've really loved getting to meet some of these people in person for the first time! Also, it's another opportunity to worship and participate in communion with a body of believers. I think we
